And the beat goes on.

School is here and lo and behold I'm learning:

"Undergraduates are sure they know everything. Graduate students are sure they don't - but they know that someone knows things. Ph.D.s are sure that no one knows anything." - my adult assessment prof.

There's a "culturally sensitive" test designed with the intention of measuring IQ more accurately in African American kids called the Black Intelligence Test of Cultural Homogeneity. What's that spell?

The feeling that one is completely incompetent is among the top three "big secrets" that most people are afraid to reveal.

...back to the books.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Snakes.

So awesomely bad that it was freaking brilliant, I had more fun at Snakes on a Plane than I have had in a while.

Current happy-haps:

I started school yesterday when we really weren't supposed to start until Monday. I guess it could be worse. It's about group therapy, which is pretty much one of my favorite things. Jonathan says I like it because I like crazy people and group means there are a bunch of them all at once. That made me laugh. Silly Jonathan, using that forboden word "crazy". I've had to learn the meaning of the following words already from my first reading: obsequious (people-pleasing), salubrious (promoting health/well-being), and ubiquitous (omnipresent). It's pretty sweet though. And the drama of the cohort begins again.

Mom's living with me. Yep. Not sure for how long. I love my mom, I really really do. But the stress level just naturally increases when you're used to living alone and then someone - not just anyone, but mom - needs a place and I'm the winner.

The ol' landlady kindly told me yesterday that they're increasing my rent this year by $40/month. What kind of crap is that? I live in a falling-apart apartment in not the nicest neighborhood and they want me to pay $480 more over the course of this year? So I'm looking for a new apartment. Whoever said that housing in Topeka is cheap has clearly never been to Wichita.

Tonight I'm going to have dinner on the Plaza. Maybe even Melting Pot if we can time it right. And then we're going to see my all-time favorite musical: RENT. A real date with my fiance. Life is pretty good.
